The canal is a waterway, not a jetty. A listing can name the Dubai Water Canal as its area and still leave the berth unstated, and a cruise sold as a canal cruise can board somewhere else entirely — the Jaddaf waterfront, for instance. Al Faris describes its own canal dining cruise as departing from the Festival City / IMAGINE area on its website, which is exactly why a district name should never be treated as a meeting point.

The Dubai Water Canal runs through the part of the city the tower dominates, and Dubai ’s official destination guide positions the canal as a skyline setting. That supports the identity of the place — not a specific viewpoint on a specific evening.
Three formats appear in the canal listings we hold, and they are different products rather than synonyms. We describe each one as the source described it, and we do not relabel a vessel to fit a category.
A glazed saloon or glass boat: air-conditioned, weather-proof and quiet, with the view through glass. Al Faris describes glass-enclosed as well as alfresco seating on its own canal experience. Confirm whether your ticket is for the enclosed area or an open one.
Tables in the open air, usually on an upper deck. Better for photographs of the bridges and towers, more exposed in summer heat and humidity. Ask whether open-deck seating is allocated or first-come.
A wooden dhow with a lower saloon and an upper deck. Several canal listings state a dhow; others state a yacht or a catamaran glass boat. Where the vessel type was not supplied, the listing leaves it unconfirmed rather than guessing.
Many canal products are sold as “sunset or dinner” sailings — two different departures at one price, and sometimes two different levels of catering. A sunset slot buys the light; an evening slot buys the illuminated city. Neither automatically includes a full dinner sitting.
